The discussion will be led by the authors of the report: Dr Erin Marie Saltman and Charlie Winter, both researchers at Quilliam. Opening remarks will come from Sir Richard Ottaway MP, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, and chairing the event will be Quilliam co-founder Maajid Nawaz.

The topics being discussed will include: similarities and differences between Al Qaeda and Islamic State; the potential for future collaboration between the two groups; the role of media and social media strategy in radicalisation and recruitment; and the impact of foreign terrorist fighters on transnational jihadism. The discussion will end with a conversation on how policymakers can counter jihadist organisations, and the role the public, private and third sectors can play in countering the appeal of jihadism and trends of radicalisation.
