Quilliam Director Maajid Nawaz spoke at Georgetown University’s ‘Tocqueville Forum on the Roots of American Democracy’ in Washington DC on 28th October 2008.

Maajid addressed a mixed crowd of professors, students, journalists, professionals and practitioners about his life and journey up until founding the Quilliam Foundation. Maajid spoke at length about his efforts to distinguish Islam from Islamism, and described the Quilliam Foundation’s teams and their work in both the UK and abroad.

The lecture was followed by a long, intelligent and engaging Q&A session with some of the USA’s brightest minds, and concluded with a warm exchange of ideas for the future.
