On 12th November 2009, Quilliam co-Director Ed Husain was invited to speak at Trinity Hall Politics Society in Cambridge.

Ed Husain spoke about how there are different approaches to politics and how he had moved from a confrontational, protest politics to a more constructive, pluralist approach. Ed spoke about the importance of free societies and the need to cherish the end-results of John Locke’s ideas and writing. While Ed was living in the Middle East, under totalitarian regimes, this need to value what is taken for granted at home, became most apparent.

A lively Q & A session followed, which countered the extremist narrative and opposed the wallowing in victimhood by some sections of Britian’s Muslim communities.
