On 5th May 2009 Quilliam co-Director Ed Husain was hosted by America’s prestigious foreign policy think tank, the Council on Foreign Relations, in Washington DC.

Ed addressed a group of policy specialists from across US federal government departments and policy specialists from other think tanks.

The session was chaired by Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies Elliott Abrams, who worked on foreign policy under U.S. President Ronald Reagan and latterly George W. Bush. Attendees discussed Quilliam’s first year of work, types of Islamist groups, emerging trends among Muslim communities, and comparative integration policies of the US and UK governments.
