On the 7th of October, Quilliam’s head of Outreach and Training, Ghaffar Hussain, delivered a presentation at an event organised by Security Watch India. The event was entitled ‘Protecting 1.1 Billion People: Homeland Security in India’. Ghaffar spoke about the motivations of various strands within Pakistani society that view India as a strategic threat. He particularly focused on the Jihadist elements that seek to turn a regional conflict, rooted in geo-politics and history, into a religious war. This presentation was followed by a panel discussion in which fellow speakers, Justin Crump of Sibylline and terrorism expert Hagai M. Segal, joined Ghaffar in addressing questions raised by a diverse audience.
