Between the 23rd and 26th of February 2010, Ghaffar Hussain, Quilliam’s Head of Outreach and Training, was in Washington D.C. to deliver a number of presentations.

His presentations discussed a number of important themes pertaining to Islamist radicalization in a western context. These included: differences between European and North American Muslim communities; the role of grievances in the radicalization of young Muslims; profiling and common characteristics of radicals; and the usage of terms in the radicalization debate.

Presentations were given at a lunch organized by a group of International Police Liason Officers, a roundtable at the Center for Strategic International Studies, Marine Corps University in Quantico and a US State Department Inter-Agency Strategic Communication Network. All the presentations generated lively Q and A sessions.
