Ghaffar Hussain, Quilliam’s head of Outreach and Training spoke at an event entitled ‘Enemies Not Allies’ on the evening of the 26th of January. The event was organised by the ‘One Law For All’ campaign group and focused on the rise of far-right extremist organisations and on their attempts to hijack the debate about tackling Islamist extremism.

Ghaffar spoke about how and why the far-right has decided to focus on attacking Islam and Muslims in the name of fighting extremism. He also touched upon the negative role the far-left has often played in this agenda. Other speakers exposed the racist nature of some groups that masquerade as being anti-extremist and underlined that genuine campaigners against Islamist extremism should not align themselves with racists and supporters of the far-right.
