On the 31 May 2011, Quilliam’s Head of Outreach and Training, Ghaffar Hussain, spoke at the British Museum at an event called the ‘International Youth Conference on Digital Citizenship,’ organised by the East West Institute.  He delivered a presentation which focused on how technology can be abused by extremist organisations seeking to recruit new members online, specifically focusing on social media and how it can be used for propoganda. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion with a mixed audience from various sectors, including young students.
