On Tuesday 23rd August, James Brandon, Quilliam’s head of research, spoke at the Hague’s International Centre for Counter-Terrorism as part of their annual conference on ‘Countering terrorism in the post 9-11 world’. Speaking on a panel on ‘Re-radicalisation programmes in Europe’ alongside the Lorenzo Vidino, an Italian academic currently based at the University of Zurich, Brandon discussed the mixture of hard and soft approaches that the UK government has used to contain and tackle the threat of Islamist terrorism. His presentation was followed by a short question-and-answer session.
