On 4th – 5th June, James Brandon, a senior research fellow at Quilliam, took part in a conference on ‘Counter-narratives and the performative power of counterterrorism’ organized by the Centre for Terrorism and Counterterrorism at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

The event examined the narratives used by modern terrorist groups and how these could be countered most effectively by governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The event brought together a range of policy-makers, academics and counter-terrorism practitioners from the UK, Europe and North America.
