On 25th February 2009, Director Maajid Nawaz spoke at Kings College London’s ‘Terrorism, Security and Society Seminar Series’.
Maajid gave a presentation entitled ‘Home-grown: The attraction, identification and critique of Islamist Ideology’. Maajid spoke about his time with Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT), the fact that he was a founding member of HT Pakistan and Denmark, and about being imprisoned in Egypt for his membership in the party, where he was adopted by Amnesty International as a ‘prisoner of conscience’.
The presentation was followed by a Questions and Answers session with the students.
