Mohammed Ali Musawi, Research Fellow, took part in a British Muslim delegation to Algeria from the 6th – 12th March. The visit aimed to shed light on the lives and experiences of Muslims in the UK and highlight the substantial contributions that British Muslims make to the UK in all walks of life. The delegation met the Algerian minister of religious affairs, members of Algerian parliament and other senior officials and discussed among other topics the challenge of extremism that faces British Muslims and the possibility of cooperation in the field of religious education. The delegation also visited the cities of Tlemcen and Constantine and met students from the main universities who enquired about religious freedoms, minority rights and the steps taken by Muslims against extremism.
