On Thursday 10th February, Quilliam researcher Mustafa Abulhimal spoke at the CSARN’s conference Business Security for the Next Decade. This was a forward-looking annual business security event which aims to raise awareness of issues including extremism, cyber security, bribery and corruption, personnel security, corporate security, risk management, corporate liability. Mustafa’s presentation was on ‘The future of Islamist political violence’, where he discussed the Islamist groups’ ideological developments over the last decades, the future of al-Qaeda in the MENA region and its impact on business stability and economic future of the region. This was a day-long event, where security experts, politicians and a large number of the UK’s business community gave a variety of presentations. Mustafa’s co-panellists were Adrian Leppard, Commissioner, City of London Police, and James Gilding, MITIE.
