On Wednesday 3rd February, Quilliam researcher Mustafa Abulhimal spoke at the Frontline Club on a panel on ‘The Tunisian domino effect and the Middle East’. Due to the recent developments in Egypt, the discussion was mostly focusing on Egypt, its future and the West’s role there. The other panellists were Jane Kinninmont from the Economic Intelligence Unit, Tarek Osman, author of ‘Egypt on the Brink: from Nasser to Mubarak’ (via Skype from Cairo), Mohammed Yehia from BBC Arabic and Davis Lewin of the Henry Jacskon Society. After initially focusing on the causes of the uprising in Egypt, the event concluded with many positive remarks on the future of democracy in the Arab World. More than hundred people attended this event, varying from journalists to political analysts, economists and students.
