On 18th February 2010, Maajid Nawaz spoke on ‘Pluralism: A weapon against intolerance’ at Amnesty UK’s annual lecture held at the University of Buckingham.

Maajid spoke about how human rights and pluralism, far from being the obstacle in the struggle against extremism, are indeed part of the solution. It’s an oxymoron to abandon our values in a fight to preserve them and is as absurd as killing a person to try and save him. If we wish to preserve our hard earned values and maintain what we have achieved in terms of civilisation, then we must lead by example, inspire and persevere.
