NAIROBI – Quilliam Executive Director Muhammad Fraser-Rahim and Head of Islamic Studies Dr Usama Hasan traveled to Nairobi, Kenya for a symposium with government, civil society, media and religious communities for a candid exchange on violent extremism and solutions to mitigate, prevent and find alternative pathways for susceptible populations. In attendance included the Kenyan National Counter Terrorism Centre, religious leaders, educationalists, psychologists, academics, diplomatic staff, the UN and leading media outlets in the country including the Standard, Daily Nation newspaper, Citizen TV, KTV and Iqra FM, to name but a few, many of whom featured Quilliam in their reports.

Religious institutions who were represented at the roundtables with Quilliam included the Nairobi Jamia, the most influential mosque in Kenya, and the Catholic Church in Kenya.

Senior Researcher Presents at School

CHELSEA – Quilliam Senior Researcher Dr Salah Al-Ansari delivered two presentations at Chelsea Academy, London which was attended by over 150 students and teachers. Dr Salah spoke about extremism, how individuals are radicalised and what we have to do as a civil society to combat these ideological struggles.
