Head of Islamic Studies attends Religion for Peace Conference
ABU DHABI – Quilliam International’s Head of Islamic Studies, Dr Usama Hasan, was an invited delegate at a conference of religious leaders from Europe and MENA looking at ways to tackle the root causes and negative consequences of the mass migrations to Europe in recent years.
The conference was hosted by Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf Hanson and Dr William Vendley on behalf of the Forum For Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, Religions For Peace and the European Council of Religious Leaders.
Quilliam in East Africa
Mohammed Fatah, Senior Fellow, Quilliam, North America, travelled to East Africa and provided training on ways to combat violent extremism. Mohammed met with government and civil society partners.
Executive Director speaks at Brooklyn Library
NEW YORK – Quilliam International’s Executive Director, North America, Dr Muhammad Fraser-Rahim spoke at the Brooklyn Public Library in New York on the root causes of misperceptions about Islam and Muslim societies in the aftermath of 9/11.
Muhammad was joined on the panel by Columbia University’s Dr Manan Ahmed, Dr Kathryn Spellman Poots of Aga Khan University, and visual artist Shahzia Sikande.

Quilliam’s Presentation in Prague
PRAGUE – Quilliam Head of Islamic Studies, Dr Usama Hasan and DIrector of Policy, David Toube, both spoke at the Home Affairs 2018 Conference in Prague, organised by the European Values think tank.
Usama spoke on the subject of Strategic Solutions for Countering Islamic Extremism, and David addressed the principles which should guide the prevention of extremism in liberal democracies. A summary of David’s points can be read on Q Perspective here.
