Quilliam Report on Rohingya Launched in the House of Commons
Quilliam International’s Muna Adil launched our new report on the Rohingya titled ‘The Rise of Religious Nationalism, Intolerance and Persecution in Burma’ at the House of Commons on Wednesday evening. The event was hosted by MP Paul Scully and was organised in association with Christian Solidarity Worldwide.
The launch had an excellent line-up of speakers which also included Benedict Rogers (Christian Solidarity Worldwide), Mark Farmaner (Burma Campaign UK), and Ronan Lee (Academic & Political Commentator).

Quilliam International’s founder, Maajid Nawaz and Sam Harris spoke to Joe Rogan on his podcast discussing the Southern Poverty Law Center mischaracterising Maajid, a Muslim, and other reformers as “anti-Muslim extremists” and much more.

Quilliam to Present Burma Report at House of Commons –
Quilliam International is excited to launch our new report on Burma and the attack on the religious freedoms, of both Muslims and Christians, in the region. The report is titled “The Rise of Religious Nationalism, Intolerance, and Persecution in Burma” and will be launched with a joint briefing event at the House of Commons on the 25th of April. The report will be released to the wider public on Thursday 26th of April.
The report has been produced by Quilliam International in association with Christian Solidarity Worldwide, a human rights organisation which focuses on defending the right to freedom of religion or belief. Head of Islamic Studies Speaks at University of St Andrews
FIFE – Quilliam International’s Head of Islamic Studies, Dr Usama Hasan was a keynote speaker at Interfaith Scotland ‘s 2018 Youth Conference, held in the picturesque university town of St. Andrew’s and attended by 100 young people from around Scotland.
Dr Usama’s interactive presentation distinguished between being radical, a good attribute, and extremist, a harmful one. He also showed how extremism and violent extremism exist in all religions and emphasised the importance of inclusive interpretations of religion over exclusivist ones.
Head of Islamic Studies Speaks in Kenya
NAIROBI – Quilliam International’s Head of Islamic Studies, Dr Usama Hasan was a keynote speaker at an international conference in Nairobi, Kenya, on counter-extremism & counter-terrorism, organised by the HORN Institute for Strategic Studies.
Usama’s presentation, entitled ‘The role of theology in de-radicalisation’ showed how religious fanaticism may be resisted through deeper and contextualised readings of scripture.
