Quilliam Foundation US Tour September 2008 – New York Police Department

Directors Maajid Nawaz and Ed Husain met with terrorism expert Marc Sageman and the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Intel division on 17th September 2008.

 

The meeting was a thorough and frank exchange of ideas. Some high priority issues were identified:

 

1) The nature of Jihadism’s relationship to Wahhabism and Islamism.

 

2) The need for a survey of the differences between UK Muslim communities and US Muslim communities.

 

3) The nature of governmental engagement with Islamists, and legal versus civil remedies.
