OPERATIONS AND RESEARCH ASSISTANT

LOCATION: LONDON

SALARY: £23,000 – 26,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Quilliam is seeking an Operations and Research Assistant, who has experience of researching transnational Islamist movements and of working in an office environment, to join our core team. The full-time role is being offered on an annual contract, starting immediately, with a view to extension dependant on progress and grant renewal.

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Provide research assistance to our research team and our international affairs team in projects relating to the role of transnational Islamist movements in the Syrian conflict
  • Engage with primary sources relating to the Syrian conflict, with a particular focus on Shi’a militias, including monitoring online material and analyzing Iranian sources
  • Produce Farsi-language online content as part of our ongoing counter-narrative work
  • Edit and proof-read press releases, reports and articles
  • Manage the diary of the chairman, president and senior researcher
  • Assist the core team with office operations
  • Make any necessary travel arrangements and prepare background information on people and places as directed
  • Maintain and negotiate good services with existing and new suppliers
  • Manage the company’s contacts database and information delivery platform

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience of working on research reports
  • A strong interest in and passion for Quilliam’s mission
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field with a strong academic record
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in research or a related field
  • Fluency in Farsi
  • Experience in editing and proof-reading written work
  • Superior interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
