Quilliam’s Head of Outreach and Training, Ghaffar Hussain, attended an event in Brussels entitled “Countering youth radicalization, what works and what doesn’t” on 29th October 2008.

The conference was organized by the European Policy Centre and was well attended by delegates from all over Europe who have an active interest in this agenda. The speakers agreed that many young people feel frustrated about political events, but only become radicalized when they are offered an Islamist rhetoric that provides them with a “them and us” narrative and scriptural justifications for violence.

The session ended with a lively question and answers session.
