Quilliam’s Curriculum Manager Rashad Ali took part in a BBC World Have Your Say debate on 2nd December 2008 on “Must Muslims now accept that Islam has a problem with terrorism?”

Rashad argued that the vast majority of Muslims not only abhor terrorism but also Al Qaeda’s ideology that justifies terror in the name of Islam. He argued that it is not Islam that motivates people to justify, support or perpetrate acts of terror but rather Islamism, a pernicious political ideology that manipulates Islamic teachings for it neo-fascist political ends.

It is this ideology of Islamism that need to be systematically and absolutely rejected by both Muslim and non-Muslim communities alike.
