It has been reported that the Chinese government has corralled in between 1 and 2 million Uyghur Muslims FROM Xinjiang into internment camps, where eye-witness survivor accounts have alleged political indoctrination, slave labour, forced sterilization, and torture.

This year, in partnership with the Uyghur Tribunal and the World Uyghur Congress, Quilliam International will be hosting a virtual Gala from the UK and the US. In the UK in accordance with Covid rules, on January 26th 2021 from 7pm till 9pm (UK Time).

Quilliam is campaigning to stop abuses against Uyghur Muslims and other religious minorities in China.

China has built nearly 400 internment camps in Xinjiang region, with construction on dozens continuing over the last two years.

Uyghur families are torn apart, as parents are sent to the camps and children are taken away to state orphanages. Half a million Uyghur families are reported missing.

To help to ascertain a formal ruling on this alleged genocide, Quilliam will this year give a percentage of all money raised to the independent Uyghur Tribunal set up by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC. This is an independent People’s Tribunal that seeks to impartially investigate and objectively assess allegations that China has been, and continues to commit crimes against humanity and/or genocide against UYGHUR MUSLIMS.

The Tribunal is fully independent and is crowdfunded and run by civil society actors. It will seek to provide an objective record of the truth by impartially assessing evidence and reaching a final judgement. Depending on the findings, the Tribunal could pressure states, international organisations, companies, individuals, and others to consider how they interact with China.

We ask you to support our gala in the same way that you have done so generously in the past for this generationally urgent cause.
