In response to the ongoing turmoil in Libya, Quilliam has issued a briefing paper today in order to help explain unfolding events in the country.
The paper discusses internal politics within the Gaddafi regime, the role of the army, Libyan tribes and Islamists in the Libyan uprisings so far and the state of civil society movements in the country. The briefing concludes by outlining some recommendations for international actors.
The paper is available to download as a PDF here.
Nb. The briefing paper was written with the help of the former Libyan Islamic Fighting Group leader Noman Benotman, a senior analyst at Quilliam, who arrived back in London yesterday after spending two weeks in Tripoli, Libya. Noman speaks English and Arabic and is available for interviews.
