Quilliam’s Fifth Year Anniversary
Britain’s New Counter- Extremism Conversation
Wednesday 03 July 2013
This year, Quilliam is 5 years old (we held our launch at the British Museum in April 2008)
To mark our fifth anniversary, we are holding a networking reception, lecture and panel discussion entitled “Britain’s New Counter-Extremism Conversation” on Wednesday 3rd July 2013 in Central London, 6-9pm.
The keynote speech will be given by Lord Carlile QC CBE. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the twin threats of far-right and Islamist extremism to the fabric of British society, chaired by Simon Israel of Channel 4 News, in his personal capacity.
The discussion will also focus on the importance of critical yet democratic and non-dogmatic Muslim engagement with Britain as a whole.
The panel will include: Nick Jode and Dean James – two former activists from the English Defence League who have renounced anti-Muslim hatred, partly as a result of Quilliam’s work – and Quilliam’s Senior Researcher in Islamic Studies, Usama Hasan.
This event is by invitation only. Please note that all places have now been filled. Please accept our apologies if we have been unable to accomodate you – the event was hugely oversubscribed.
