On 21st May 2009 Usman Raja facilitated an interactive workshop which included a wide range of Imams, Mosque committee members and Community leaders.

Usman spoke about his background and his experiences in dealing with extremism in the Muslim community.  He offered the Quilliam perspective on the causes of radicalisation and ways in which it can be countered. The interactive workshop enabled participants to speak about challenges they faced in combating extremism in their communities.  The Imams were keen to point out the fact they had been speaking out against extremist organisations for a while and condemning those who sought to distort the teachings of Islam. They also expressed a strong desire to counter extremism and to work harder to propagate the true face of Islam.
