Usman Raja, from Quilliam’s Outreach and Training Unit, was invited to speak on 22nd November 2008 at the Faizan-e-Islam Education and Cultural Centre in Walthamstow.

As part of an event on “Islam Awareness and Health”, Usman spoke about the need for mutual understanding, acceptance through open dialogue and the need to bridge communities.

Sheikh Ghulam Rabbani, who runs the One Community Project, was impressed and wants to work with the Quilliam Foundation. Similarly, the Young Muslim Doctors Association is keen to organize some events with Quilliam.

There was a universal show of support from older and younger attendees alike for the kind of outreach work that Quilliam engages in at local level. It was also highlighted that interfaith forums and colleges could also benefit.
